Book of the Week: The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

When Lyra and her daemon discover the master of Jordan College trying to poison Lord Asrael (her uncle), she has no idea the dangerous step she’s taken towards discovering the truth about Dust, daemons and disappearing children. There’s no reason to assume everything is connected in ways that could prove fatal if separated.

The Golden Compass receives a lot of praise and a lot of criticism, but one thing is undeniable: the implications of the story are as well thought out as the story itself. If you’re not left pondering the book by the time you reach its conclusion, I feel sorry for you.

Whether you’re determined to hate it or love it or have no opinion, you should get your hands on a copy of The Golden Compass and go read that book.
